Do you know someone who is really put together? You know, the kind of person who always seems to handle everything with grace all that life throws at them. When it is raining, they have an umbrella. When they someone cries, they have a tissue. Maybe it is not luck, perhaps they have a few secrets for being so prepared!
I don’t claim to have it ALL figured out, but there are a few things that make my life A LOT easier! I believe we need to “slow down to move faster.” Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we can cause our own disasters. A little preparation can go along way in making life run a bit more smoothly & efficiently!
As a busy mom of five children ages 6-17, I have learned a couple of survival techniques! One of my secret weapons is taking advantage of early mornings! I get up before my kids and assess the day. I think through the “have to’s” and the “want to’s” and make my list. I have found that getting up before being woken up makes all the difference!
Even if it means sacrificing a bit of time with my kids, taking time to organize myself makes life better. Clean out clutter, make a calendar for the week, and then make a plan! I can handle a missing child’s shoe a lot better if I know right where my shoes are.
I have learned that keeping a stash of things on hand to deal with life’s little emergencies makes all the difference! I like the old adage, “it is better to have and not need than to need and not have.” That is why I LOVE the In A Pikle bag. I don’t know what is going to happen each day, but I take a few minutes before heading out to pack my Pikle bag with a few necessities. I slip it into my purse and WALA! I can handle any unexpected mishaps! A skinned knee…I’ve got bandaids! A sliver….I’ve got tweezers! A spill….I’ve got wipes AND a spot remover pen! Headache…I’ve got meds! It is my own Mary Poppins bag of solutions to turn daily lemons into lemonade!
My favorite style is the Sweet Pikle. I love that I can stuff it full and still cinch it up small enough to fit in my purse. I carry the Pikle around with me everywhere. It also acts as an organizer for all those little things rummaging around at the bottom of my purse. Now that I have one, I can’t live without it! My kids are always asking for “the Pikle” and the most popular item in my Pikle bag is the mini scissors. The scissors have been used for opening packages, trimming loose threads, cutting down a long straw for a toddler and even splitting a sandwich! I love having my own tool box of solutions for life’s little mishaps!
Is there really such thing as luck? I am not sure, but it is possible to make things go a bit more your way with a little preparation!
