Kathryn’s Korner: CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE

Everyday we have the blessing to wake up in a country where we can enjoy the freedom and ability to do just about anything we want.  We are free from so many of the ugly rules that govern many people in the world today.   We are protected under a constitution that allows us to express our beliefs, opinions and thoughts.

Often I think we forget about how lucky we are and it shows so clearly in the attitude we embrace.  Instead of looking for the positive in life we are so quick to complain and criticize about what we think is negative.

I have always loved the following quote by Charles Swindoll and it hangs on the wall in my office as a daily reminder that I choose my attitude.

Attitude by Charles Swindoll

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.  Attitude, to me, is more important that the past, that education, than money, than failures, than successes.  It is more important than giftedness or skill.  It will make or break a company…a church…a home.  The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.  We cannot change out past, we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.  We cannot change the inevitable.  The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have and that is attitude.  I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.

Next time you want to complain about something you believe to be negative take a look and attempt to find the positive.  Have an attitude of gratitude for the many blessings of family, friends, health, happiness and prosperity you enjoy each day in your life.
